Hello and a very warm welcome to my newly relaunched blog. I'm Paul a 40 year old family man from the UK. In this complex, information overload 21st century world, too often we lose sight of what's really important. Here I want to celebrate life, share inspirational stories, throw the spotlight on charities and causes close to my heart. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.

Magicdarts needs to make a magic start!

I have to say ever since I've decided (about 3 days ago) to channel all my spare time writing into this "Make a difference" theme, my mind has been buzzing with ideas and possibilites. I want to do anything I can to promote and highlight good causes, share inspiring stories, basically make this a 100% feel good blog.

Only trouble is I've realised I've not captured them any where here yet, so there's me, on twitter and dooyoo and my other regular writing haunts trying to drum up traffic to come take a look and yet I haven't got anything put up here yet.

Luckily for me my rushed promotional activities to date have failed to get anyone over here but no time like the present, here we go....

So let's start with my motivations here.

I've been gradually building up my online writing activities since I first signed up with the UK review site dooyoo.co.uk in late 2008. All of this has been done in my "spare time". After enduring my IT career for over 13 years now, I've been trying to build towards setting up full time as a freelance writer, posting articles on multiple sites, woefully failing to get to grips the internet marketing needed to go from pennies to pounds.

While I've been wrestling with all this, work got really tough a few months back, and I got a shock with my health being directly impacted. Unbeknown to me , my blood pressure had got very high, but this proved to be the catalyst for a real change around for me. I'll post more about that later, but suffice to say, I'm 30 pounds lighter than I was before Xmas (no drastic crash diets, just sensible eating and exercise, with the ultimate motivation. BP is back at normal levels, and in so many ways now I'm feeling better than I have done in years. It feels like I've got control back, and finally I've got a clear idea

I think what I've come to realise is that what I really like about writing is the freedom to express myself as and when I want, and that when it actually comes down to being the only source of income, the game changes considerably.

What I desperately want to avoid is to end up writing anything and everything just to scrape by.

So I guess this is my way to get the best of both worlds. I've found a more balanced approach to working in IT that should hopefully keep me going and building up a "get stuffed" fund should the need ever arise. In the meantime, I have the enormous motivation of writing to raise money, writing what I really care about, and still enjoying all the global internet community benefits of feedback and support.

Where I'd be waiting till one site had approved the content before posting on the others, starting and not finishing so many bits and pieces, all that has gone now. Instead of using this blog as an afterthought, a dumping ground, this is the place where I can drive out all the ideas first.

In order to do that, I need to get followers, in order to get followers , I need to have some content.

I understand that, so please bear with me as I try and get things moving as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, I would love to get your initial comments and ideas, just so I know you are out there.

This is a huge thing for me, I'm going to give it everything I've got - really hope you will come along for the ride!
